FAQ
How can I guarantee my data’s safety?
What distinguishes R2 Canada from other electronics recyclers is our emphasis on security. Our documented protocol for monitoring the chain of custody from collection to destruction guarantees comprehensive data security for your organization. From GPS-enabled vehicles to CCTV surveillance across our premises to audited destruction processes and NAID membership, we provide comprehensive protection.
Are all electronics recyclers alike? What sets R2 Canada apart?
Numerous companies in the market claim to recycle, but what exactly do they do with your equipment once it’s collected? The only surefire way to find out is by ensuring your recycler possesses the same certifications as R2 Canada. If they don’t, they’re not being adequately held accountable to industry-recognized standards for managing data and environmental risks.
After R2 Canada has shredded your hard drive, what happens to the crushed or shredded material?
Following destruction, the broken or shredded hard drive material undergoes further processing to the commodity level. This involves separating circuit boards, aluminum, palladium, and other non-ferrous metals. Through this process, we maximize value while minimizing risk.
Can R2 Canada provide a Certificate of Recycling?
A Certificate of Recycling is provided free of charge for each electronic waste load we collect.
Can R2 Canada issue a Certificate of Destruction?
A Certificate of Data Destruction is provided upon the successful completion of every secure data destruction task. Our standard certificate includes the company name, date of data destruction service, and the serial number for each destroyed hard drive. Media items lacking unique serial numbers, like tapes and floppy disks, are collectively processed with total non-serialized weight detailed on the certificate. Upon request, additional information such as hard drive make and capacity, or the serial number of the originating computer or server, can be included on the certificate for an additional fee.
Our company is upgrading our IT systems, and our used equipment still holds value! How can R2 Canada assist me in securely maximizing the value of my assets?
We’ll optimize the value by repairing and reselling items that can be remarketed, while recycling those that cannot. Our IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) department is equipped to assist you in determining the most suitable options for your used equipment. ITAD services are usually tailored to your specific needs, so feel free to contact us for a discussion. As a general guideline, equipment suitable for ITAD will typically be no more than five years old.
